Question 1

Tuesday 18-October-2011

Thanks for the info about the immunizing peptide for ab74039. While I understand that you do not have the peptide to add to your catalogue, I was wondering whether we can have a small aliquot of it to perform a preabsorption control experiment. We would need a small amount, just enough to run a couple of slides to verify the specificity of the antibody staining on our tissue samples (fixed retinal vessels).

ANSWER:

Thank you for your e-mail.

I am very sorry but we cannot provide individual aliquots to customers. While I understand the validity that the immunizing peptide would provide I do believe that you could prove your staining to be accurate by incubating with the full length ACVRL1 protein as it would contain this peptide. We do have this product in our catalogue, the product number is ab70317.

I hope that you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us again should you have further questions about this antibody or any of the products in our catalogue.

Question 2

Thursday 13-October-2011

Can we get the peptide that was used to raise this antibody so that we can use it to block the signal?

ANSWER:

Unfortunately we are not able to add this peptide to our catalogue at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Question 3

Friday 30-April-2010

Your immunohistochemistry positive control for the above antibody is breast cancer, which shows pretty strong homogeneous staining on the cancer itself. From what little the literature says, this molecule is mostly expressed on blood vessels, not necessarily the tumor epithelium. Is your staining specific? How do you know?

ANSWER:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Please check the following website which shows that ACVL1 is expressed in breast cancer: http://www.itb.cnr.it/breastcancer/php/geneReport.php?id=94.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
