Relevance
|
ADA (Adenosine deaminase) is an enzyme involved in the purine catabolic pathway. It irreversibly deaminates adenosine, converting it to the related nucleoside inosine by the removal of an amine group. Defects in ADA are a cause of autosomal recessive severe combined immuno-deficiency (SCID).
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Adenosine Deaminase [Calf Spleen]. Cross reactivity against Adenosine Deaminase from other tissues and species may occur but have not been specifically determined.
