RelevanceADBR2 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. It is activated by the catecholamine epinephrine and couples to the G protein Gs to mediate adenylate cyclase activation. The beta-2-adrenergic receptor binds epinephrine with an approximately 30-fold greater affinity than it does norepinephrine.
Gia3 (GNAI3) is the alpha subunit of inhibitory trimeric G protein (Gi), which inhibits adenylate cyclase once its G protein coupled receptors (GPCR) such as a2 adrenergic receptors are activated. GNAI3 can be inactivated by pertussis toxin. Guanine nucleotide binding proteins are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. Gia3 is the stimulatory G protein of receptor-regulated K+ channels.
