I received the following information from the source of this antibody - we "don't know the precise epitope recognized by 8G8, but due to the antigen used to raise this antibody, it must lie within the sequence: aa165 GINIPDQTVIKKGPVSLSKSNSNAVSAIPINKDNLFGGVVNPNEVFCSVPGRLSLLSS i.e. this is a stretch of 58 amino acids starting at aa 165 in the human AP-2alpha sequence and corresponds to a region just N-terminal of the DNA binding domain so is neither N- or C-terminal really but right in the middle of the protein!" What is the homology between mouse and human? |

Thank you for your enquiry. All the information we have on species cross reactivity is specified on the datasheet, these are updated as soon as any new information is brought to our attention. As far as we are aware, cross reactivity with mouse has not yet been tested for use with ab18112. However, there is very high homology between the human and mouse sequences. In fact, 432 of 437 amino acids are identical and the 5 differences are conservative changes. I would definitely expect this antibody to cross-react with mouse.
