Question 2

Monday 15-August-2005

Does this antibody recognize Activin Receptor type II a or b? And what domain does it recognize?

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. The following two references provide more information regarding this antibody:

McCarthy SA et al. Monoclonal antibodies that recognize the type-2 activin receptor, ACTR2. Hybridoma 13:199-203 (1994). PubMed: 7927363

McCarthy SA & Bicknell R Activin-A binds to a heterotrimeric receptor complex on the vascular endothelial cell surface. Evidence for a type 3 activin receptor. J Biol Chem 269:3909-12 (1994). PubMed: 8307945

The Hybridoma reference states that the antibody recognizes the kinase domain of Activin Receptor 2 but does not mention subtypes a or b. The portion of Activin Receptor II that is used for blots in this paper is the 802bp Ssp I fragment of human ACTR2 cDNA. The fragment's isolation is described in McCarthy SA et al. 1993. J Biol Chem. 268: 23066-71 which may be of interest to you.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any additional questions, please contact us again.
