    Question 1

    Thursday 15-June-2006

I'm interested in purchasing ab29278 (Adipose [rat] cytoplasmic lysate). However, if I were to use this lysate in Western blots, I would need a loading control for this control along with my samples. I've checked the Abcam website for all the possible loading controls, however, according to the product datasheets, both actin and tubulin are inappropriate loading controls for adipose tissue samples. I've also noticed that there are mitochondrial controls (COX IV and GAPDH), could I possibly use those as my loading control? Or is there other loading control(s) which you would recommend?

    ANSWER:

    Thank you for your enquiry.

I would like to recommend GAPDH as a loading control for your samples. For example both of the following antibodies haev been tested in rat and are HRP labelled.

ab9482 GAPDH antibody [mAbcam 9484] - Loading Control ab9385 GAPDH antibody - Loading Control
