Overview

Product name

Aeromomonas salmonicida OmpA protein (Active)

Protein description

Recombinant full length Aeromomonas salmonicida OmpA, 48kDa. This protein comes from the gene for the monomeric form of OmpA from achromogenic atypical Aeromonas salmonicida. N-terminal AAs not consistent with OmpA of Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida A449.

Expression host

E. coli

Properties

Purity

>95% by SDS-PAGE

Purification notes

ab68485 was purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Purity is greater than 98.0% as determined by analysis by RP-HPLC and SDS-PAGE .

Form

Lyophilised:
Reconstitute in sterile 0.4% NaHCO3. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).

Storage instructions

Shipped at 4°C. Upon delivery aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.

Storage buffer

The protein was lyophylized in presence of NaHCO3 at 2:1 protein:salt ratio.

Concentration

Concentration information loading...

Sequence notes

The sequence of the first five N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Met-Asp-Va l-Val-Ile- Ser.

Applications

  • SDS-PAGE

Application notes

Biological Activity: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
Thioglycolate elicited peritoneal macrophages exhibited a low level of activation (18% cytotoxicity) that was significantly increased (48% cytotoxicity) in the presence of latex beads. Coating of the latex beads with this protein resulted in an increase of cytoxicity (mean +/- SEM) from 48% to 91%.

SDS-PAGE: Use at an assay dependent dilution.

Not yet tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Protein info

Relevance

Aeromonas salmonicida is the causative agent of goldfish ulcer disease. Virulence of this bacterium is associated with the production of a paracrystalline outer membrane A-layer protein also known as OmpA. This protein comes from the gene for the monomeric form of OmpA from achromogenic atypical Aeromonas salmonicida.
