BACH1 is a member of the DEAH helicase family that interacts with BRCA1, in vivo. The BACH1/BRCA1 complex formation contributes to a key function of BRCA1. Therefore, it is likely that BACH1 is a target of germline cancer-inducing mutations.
This Bach1/Brip1 protein should not be confused with the separate Bach1 protein listed under SwissProt O14867. This other protein is a BTB and CNC homolog 1 transcription factor.
