    Question 1

    Tuesday 18-May-2004

I have purchased two antibodies from Abcam in the past wfew months, ab9793 and ab6200. Both anti-BDNF were used in ICC in paraformaldehyde fixed mouse brain sections. Both have been unsuccesful in the labelling for BNDF-ir fibers or cells.

I was wondering if you would be able to provide me with any information regarding your development of antibodies. I need not ask for any indepth resources, but just an overview of how one develops the antibodies that are sold. I need this information for a thesis that I am writing. Thanks for your cooperation. I hope to hear back soon, as I must finish writing in a timely manner.

    ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. We are very sorry to hear that you are having problem with these two antibodies.

According to the datasheets of these products, ab9793 and ab6200 have only been testes on human samples and we do not know if they recognize mouse BDNF. Actually, ab9793 has not been characterized for IHC application at all.
