Question 1

Monday 13-February-2012

Last year, we ordered a vial of BMP7 antibody, cat: ab56023, for western blotting of mouse mammary tumour lines. As attached, there are many bands, more than what on the datasheet, and the result is almost unusable.
In the lorne Cancer conference 2012, I was told that I may get some suggestion or solution by contacting you. Could you please help us with that?
Best regards

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting us. I have checked the image and can say that there are many unnecessary bands on the gel. I am happy to help you however I would need more information about the used protocol. Please answer my following questions;

What was the
- Order Number
- Lot number
- Storage temperature of ab
- memmory tumour cell lines
- amount of loaded protein
- Lysis buffer used? Was there any protease inhibitor in the lysis buffer?
- Dilution of antibody when used?

- Have you tried no primary control?
- Do you think multiple bands are not from primary antibody?
- At what temperature the lysates were heated with loading buffer?
- At what dilution the secondary was used? What was the secondary antibody?
- Did you use fresh lysates or frozen lysates?

Finally, do you have antibody left to try optimization suggestions.

Answers to these question will help me to understand where the problem was.

I will look forward o hearing from you soon.

Question 2

Tuesday 27-December-2011

May I ask about expiry date of mentioned below antibodies? I couldn't find such info on your website (only storage instruction) and I'm not sure how long can I store them without the loss of their quality. Cat.no. Ab23841 Ab54481 Ab6276 Ab9484 Ab2920 Ab56023 Ab45966 Ab95453 Ab18199 Ab2911 Ab61249

ANSWER:

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not assign strict expiration dates for our products, however we follow general guidelines: Antibodies stored at 4C may be viable up to 1 year, those stored at -20C may be viable for up to 5 years, and those stored at -80C may be viable for up to 10 years. I hope this information helps. Please contact us with any other questions.
