Question 1

Tuesday 07-October-2003

I bought an antibody from you that turned out to have a reduced volume in it, 55ul instead of 100ul. I was told to contact you and that you would send me a replacement asap. The antibody is called anti-BRCA2 ab97 (lot no. BRCA2IPX804). Product code is ab97. Could you please send me the antibody to the adress below.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. A replacement vial will be sent free of charge. However, for your information, the reduced volume in the vial is due to evaporation, not lack of product. There is still 100 ug of product in the vial, but if the volume is 55 ul instead of 100 ul then the concentration is almost 2 mg/ml instead of the indicated 1 mg/ml.

Question 2

Wednesday 29-August-2001

I am currenty using the second batch of BRCA2-3E6 antibody that I got from you in hBRCA2 overexpression studies. Although the first batch I used gave me the right size band after an IP-Western, the second batch I'm using gives me no bands at all. I don't have the lot number of the antibody but I received it approx. 3 weeks ago (maybe you can track it down). Did you have any reports about a problematic batch? Thank you.

ANSWER:

We have only been shipping one lot of the BRCA2 3E6 antibody and have had no other problems reported concerning vial to vial variation in activity.

Question 3

Thursday 26-July-2001

Do you know whether the BRCA2-3E6 antibody is also suitable for detection of the mouse Brca2 protein?

Regards,

Jos Jonkers

ANSWER:

None of the BRCA2 antibodies have been tested in mouse tissue to determine their crossreactivity.

Question 4

Monday 09-July-2001

Thank you for this opportunity, I had many problems with BRCA2-3E6 antibody. In my western blot this antibody recognizes many proteins but I didn't see the BRCA2 protein. Unfortunely I haven't the positive control which you suggested (Molt 4 cell line), I used a HCC 1937 cell line. In addition my blots always display a high background! Thank for your attention.

ANSWER:

BRCA2 is a large protein and sensitive to cleavage. Therefore you must gentle lyse the cells. If you would like a more detailed procedure please contact support@genetex.com

Question 5

Thursday 05-April-2001

Dear,

I have a question about the BRCA2 - Antibody - 3E6, I wanna know which secondary antibody I should use.

I hope to get soon an answer.

Thanks

Andrea Pfeffer

ANSWER:

You need to use an anti mouse secondary antibody. It depends on what type of experiment you are doing with the antibody. For a western blot we use the Pharmacia ECL kit for devlopment.
