Our lab recently purchased ab56342. Is this antibody specific for Brd3? We do not want any cross reactivity to Brd2 or any of the other family members.

We do not specifically test this antibody for it's cross-reactivity to other Brd family members, however based on a BLAST of the immunogen (AAH32124, 418 a.a. ˜ 556 a.a), we would not expect it to cross-react.

Brd1: 4% homology

Brd2: 16% homology

Brd4: 28% homology

Brd7: 13% homology


Generally we say that anything with >85% sequence homology would be expected to cross-react, so these sequences are quite low. Although we haven't tested the cross-reactivity of this antibody with other Brd family members, we wouldn't expect them to cross-react due to low sequence homology.
