Question 2

Thursday 24-November-2011

Dear Technical Support I have questions about anti CD15 antibodies. CD15 is synonymous with SSEA-1 but you have to different set of antibodies: CD15 (ab119844 or ab754) and SSEA-1 (ab16285). Do they recognize the same protein? I need Ab against human protein, does the ab16285 react with human? If not may I buy a CD15 antibody to stain the same cells? Which is better for IFr application, the ab119844 or ab754 Thank ou very much

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry and your interest in our products. I can confirm that CD15 and SSEA1 are alternative names and these antibodies detect the same protein.

Depending when the original antibody was produced and the clone licensed, some antobodies have the CD15 others the SSEA1 as target name. ab754 and ab119844 recognize human protein and both are suitable for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (IHC-P) tissue sections. However, ab16285 only detects murine SSEA1.

I am not sure what you mean by IFr application? Is it immunofluorescence (ICC/IF) or immunohistochemistry on frozen tissue (IHC-Fr) section? Could you please specify the sample types you wish to use so that I could recommend the most suitable product for you?

I hope this helps and if I can assist further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
