Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab17044 in the following tested applications.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
BL: Use at an assay dependent dilution. (Blocks collagen/thrombospondin binding.)
FuncS: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
ICC/IF: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. (PubMed: 18288886)
IHC-P: Use at an assay dependent dilution. (PubMed: 17312010)
IHC-Fr: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
Flow Cyt: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
Seems to have numerous potential physiological functions. Binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. May function as a cell adhesion molecule. Directly mediates cytoadherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes. Binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport. Receptor for thombospondins, THBS1 AND THBS2, mediating their antiangiogenic efects.
Defects in CD36 are the cause of platelet glycoprotein IV deficiency (PG4D)[MIM:608404]; also known as CD36 deficiency. Platelet glycoprotein IV deficiency can be divided into 2 subgroups. The type I phenotype is characterized by platelets and monocytes/macrophages exhibiting complete CD36 deficiency. The type II phenotype lacks the surface expression of CD36 in platelets, but expression in monocytes/macrophages is near normal.
Genetic variations in CD36 are associated with susceptibility to coronary heart disease type 7 (CHDS7) [MIM:610938].
Belongs to the CD36 family.
N-glycosylated and O-glycosylated with a ratio of 2:1.

Western blot - CD36 antibody [FA6-152] (ab17044)
![Western blot - CD36 antibody [FA6-152] (ab17044)](/ps/datasheet/Images/17/ab17044/ab17044_1.jpg)
All lanes : Anti-Interferon gamma antibody (ab10744) at 1/300 dilution
Lane 1 : whole cell lysate of hCD36-transfected HeLa cell line
Lane 2 : whole cell lysate of wild type HeLa cells
Lysates/proteins at 20 µg per lane.
Secondary
alkaline phosphatase conjugated goat anti-mouse antibody at 1/10000 dilution
developed using the ECL technique
Performed under reducing conditions.
Observed band size : 85-88 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?)
Exposure time : 30 minutes
The image was obtained using a colorimetric method of antigen detection, as a result of incubating the membrane with BCIP/NBP premixed solution (substrate for alkaline phosohatase) for 30 minutes at 4°C.

Anti-CD36 antibody [FA6-152] (ab17044) at 1/500 dilution + whole cell lysate prepared from human PBMCs at 20 µg
Secondary
IRDye 800CW conjugated donkey monoclonal at 1/5000 dilution
Performed under reducing conditions.
Observed band size : 88 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?)
Blocking step performed using a special fluorescent blocking buffer at 50%, for 1 hour at room temperature.
