Which band is CEACAM 5? The datasheet mentions that the predicted molecular weight of CEACAM 6 is 41 kDa. |
|||||||||
ANSWER: |
Actually, since both CEA (CEACAM5) and NCA (CEACAM6) are glycosylated proteins, the apparent molecular weight depends on the extraction method you used...: NCA: In case of a PCA extraction, NCA is usually detected at a molecular weight of 55 kDa, whereas with more gentle methods you will be able to detect a 90 kDa band. CEA: Usually, CEA can be stained in a rather smeary way: in-between 150 and 200 kDa you will be able to detect most probably two distinct bands (differing by approx 20 or 30 kDa), however, again, this might depend on you extraction method.
