Question 1

Tuesday 08-November-2011

immunogen available for sale?

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting us. I have actually found the immunogen for ab6992 in our catalog as ab7861: http://www.abcam.com/CTGF-peptide-ab7861.html

I apologize for not seeing it right away when we were talking on the phone. But I hope these are good news for you, nevertheless. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Question 2

Thursday 09-December-2004

I have another question regarding the CTGF blocking peptide. Do I have to pre-incubate the peptide with the CTGF antibody prior to adding it to the blot?

ANSWER:

Thanks for your email. The peptide should be pre-incubated with the relevant antibody for 20 minutes before adding the membrane. If you have any more questions, just let us know.

Question 3

Wednesday 08-December-2004

How much CTGF peptide should I use for blocking the Abcam CTGF antibody in a Western blot? I am using the CTGF antibody at a 1:5000 dilution.

ANSWER:

Than you for your enquiry. We usually use a peptide concentration of 1 µg/ml. If you have any more questions, please contact us again.

Question 4

Monday 12-July-2004

CTGF (C-term) peptide (mouse) - ab7861 I would like to know about the above product. Is it CTGF protein? I would like to the meaning of 'blocking'.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. Ab7861 is a CTGF (C-term) peptide, corresponding to amino acids 223-348 of mouse CTGF. This peptide can be used as a blocking peptide for ab6992 - Rabbit polyclonal to CTGF. It is not uncommon to see more than 1 band in Western when probed with a given antibody or see more diffuse staining in immunolocalization studies. Using a blocking peptide will help to differentiate between specific and non-specific bands. Only specific bands should be blocked (and thus disappear). If you have any more questions, please contact us again.

Question 5

Tuesday 13-January-2004

Thanks, that is helpful. It looks like others have found bands around 38 kDa and 44-47 representing a glycosylated or phosphorylated form. One other question - the CTGF peptide we ordered from you seems to run at around 33 kDa -- is this what you expect? Is it a shorter peptide? Amy

ANSWER:

Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately, the originator of ab7861 is unable to provide me with any more information regarding your question. If you have any questions in the future, please contact us again.
