Function
CaM-kinase II (CAMK2) is a prominent kinase in the central nervous system that may function in long-term potentiation and neurotransmitter release. Member of the NMDAR signaling complex in excitatory synapses it may regulate NMDAR-dependent potentiation of the AMPAR and synaptic plasticity. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. CaMK subfamily.
Contains 1 protein kinase domain. -
Cellular localization
Cell junction > synapse > presynaptic cell membrane. Cell junction > synapse. Postsynaptic lipid rafts. - Information by UniProt

All lanes : HRP Anti-CaMKII alpha antibody [6G9] (ab197500) at 1/5000 dilution
Lane 1 : Brain (Rat) Tissue Lysate
Lane 2 : Brain (Mouse) Tissue Lysate
Lane 3 : Brain (Human) Tissue Lysate - adult normal tissue
Lysates/proteins at 20 µg per lane.
Developed using the ECL technique.
Performed under reducing conditions.
Predicted band size: 56 kDa
Observed band size: 50 kDa why is the actual band size different from the predicted?
Exposure time: 30 secondsThis blot was produced using a 4-12% Bis-tris gel under the MOPS buffer system. The gel was run at 200V for 50 minutes before being transferred onto a Nitrocellulose membrane at 30V for 70 minutes. The membrane was then blocked for an hour using 2% Bovine Serum Albumin before being incubated with ab197500 overnight at 4°C. Antibody binding was visualised using ECL development solution ab133406.
