See all Calpain 6 products (4) ...

Description

Rabbit polyclonal to Calpain 6 - Carboxyterminal end domain-T

Specificity

ab38938 binds to Calpain 6, but does not cross react with the other calpain family members (calpain 1, calpain 2, Calpain 3, ncl 2, ncl 3, etc.). It reacts to Domain-T of Calpain 6, and detects both latent and aminoprocessed (activated) Calpain 6.

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab38938 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application notes

WB: A recommended starting concentration for Western blots is 1:1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT, and 1:5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Higher concentrations of antibody may be needed for samples from more distantly related species. When used against the reduced protein this antibody identifies bands at 75 KD, 58 KD, and a series of further cleaved active forms. Dilution optimised using Chromogenic detection. Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Target

Function

Microtubule-stabilizing protein that may be involved in the regulation of microtubule dynamics and cytoskeletal organization. May act as a regulator of RAC1 activity through interaction with ARHGEF2 to control lamellipodial formation and cell mobility. Does not seem to have protease activity as it has lost the active site residues.

Tissue specificity

Expressed only in placenta.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the peptidase C2 family.
Contains 1 C2 domain.
Contains 1 calpain catalytic domain.

Cellular localization

Cytoplasm > perinuclear region. Cytoplasm > cytoskeleton > spindle. During mitose associated with the mitotic spindle. At telophase colocalized to the midbody spindle.
