Relevance
|
Caveolin 1 is closely associated with caveloae and are also found outside caveolae. It has been suggested that these important cellular organelles have a pivotal role in such diverse biochemical processes as lipid metabolism, growth regulation, signal transduction, and apoptosis. Caveolin interacts with and regulates heterotrimeric G proteins. Currently, there are three members of the caveolin multigene family which are known to encode 21 to 24 kDa integral membrane proteins that comprise the major structural component of the caveolar membrane in vivo. Caveolin 1 protein is abundantly expressed in fibroblasts and differentiated adipocytes, smooth and skeletal muscle, and endothelial cells.

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Caveolin 1 antibody - Caveolae Marker (ab2910)
ab2910 at 1/250 dilution staining mouse NIH 3T3 cells by Immunocytochemistry (panel B). The antibody was incubated with the paraformaldehyde fixed cells for 12 hours. Bound antibody was detected using an Alexa Fluor ® 594 conjugated Goat anti-rabbit antibody. Panel A shows staining with a mouse anti-Caveolin 1 antibody (clone 2297). Panel C shows the merged image.
