  • Product overview

Abcam’s Ceruloplasmin Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of Ceruloplasmin concentrations in urine, saliva, milk and culture supernatants.

A Ceruloplasmin specific antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells and subsequently a Ceruloplasmin specific biotinylated detection antibody is added and then followed by washing with wash buffer. Streptavidin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. TMB is then used to visualize Streptavidin-Peroxidase enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by Streptavidin-Peroxidase to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Ceruloplasmin captured in plate.

Properties

  • FunctionCeruloplasmin is a blue, copper-binding (6-7 atoms per molecule) glycoprotein. It has ferroxidase activity oxidizing Fe(2+) to Fe(3+) without releasing radical oxygen species. It is involved in iron transport across the cell membrane. Provides Cu(2+) ions for the ascorbate-mediated deaminase degradation of the heparan sulfate chains of GPC1. May also play a role in fetal lung development or pulmonary antioxidant defense.
  • Tissue specificityExpressed by the liver and secreted in plasma.
  • Involvement in diseaseAceruloplasminemia
Ceruloplasmin levels are decreased in Wilson disease, in which copper cannot be incorporated into ceruloplasmin in liver because of defects in the copper-transporting ATPase 2.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the multicopper oxidase family.
    Contains 3 F5/8 type A domains.
    Contains 6 plastocyanin-like domains.
  • Cellular localizationSecreted. Colocalizes with GCP1 in secretory intracellular compartments.

  • CERP measured in culture supernatants (duplicates +/- SD). Samples were diluted in the range of 1/1-1/30.

  • CERP measured in biological fluids (duplicates +/- SD). Human plasma and serum were tested after dilution 3000-30000 times, milk diluted 30-300 times, and other samples 1-10 times.

Thank you for contacting us. The standard is 320 ng to be mixed with 1 ml diluent to create the 320 ng/ml solution.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Thank you for your patience while I contacted the lab. They have informed my that ab108818, would not be suitable for serum samples and that it only has around 20% cross-reactivity with monkey samples. However, ab108817, will react with...
