DDT (D-dopachrome tautomerase) catayzes the tautomerization of D-dopachrome to give 5,6-dihydroxyindole (DHI). DDT shares a homologous amino acid sequence (33% identical) with the macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and possesses similar tautomerase activity.
