Relevance
|
EAAT2 is a member of a family of solute transporter proteins. The membrane-bound protein is the principal transporter that clears the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate from the extracellular space at synapses in the central nervous system. Glutamate clearance is necessary for proper synaptic activation and to prevent neuronal damage from excessive activation of glutamate receptors.

All lanes : EAAT2 antibody [10B7] - Carboxyterminal end (ab61859) at 1/200 dilution
Lane 1 : COS7 cells transfected with GLT1a Lane 2 : COS7 cells transfected with EAAT2
Predicted band size : 62 kDa Observed band size : 70 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?) Additional bands at : 50 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.
