A protein database search confirms that the immunogen sequence is unique to the Excitatory Amino Acid Transporter (EAAT2) protein. By immunoblotting, ab54417 detects native protein migrating at approximately 50 kDa in SDS-PAGE blots using total brain extract from mouse or rat. This signal was completely abolished by preincubating the purified antibody with a control immunogen peptide at 25 µg/ml.
