ab15605 reacts with endothelium of the renal glomerulus but does not stain megakaryocytes.
The ab15605 epitope is expressed by endothelial tumors as well as normal endothelial cells. It is expressed by endothelium of capillaries and other blood vessels, giving a staining of cellular membrane and cytoplasmic granules.

The endothelium is the layer of thin specialized epithelium, comprising a simple squamous layer of cells that line the interior surface of blood vessels, forming an interface between circulating blood in the lumen and the rest of the vessel wall (simple squamous epithelium). Endothelial cells line the entire circulatory system, from the heart to the smallest capillary. Endothelial cells are involved in many aspects of vascular biology, such as vasoconstriction and vasodilation, and hence the control of blood pressure; blood clotting (thrombosis & fibrinolysis); atherosclerosis; formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) and inflammation and swelling (oedema). Endothelial cells also control the passage of materials, and the transit of white blood cells, into and out of the bloodstream.
All blood vessels and lymphatics are lined by endothelial cells; the layer being called the endothelium. These extraordinary cells were once considered to be simple lining cells with very few functional roles, other than to keep cells within the blood from leaking out of the vessels. However, for some years research on endothelial cells has revealed that they have an amazing array of functional and adaptive qualities. Moreover, they are the key determinants of health and disease in blood vessels and play a major role in arterial disease.
