Overview

  • Product nameFBXO31 protein (Tagged-His Tag)See all FBXO31 proteins and peptides ...
  • Protein descriptionRecombinant fragment, corresponding to amino acids 298-539 (242 amino acids) of Human FBXO31 with an N terminal His tag. Predicted MWt: 28 kDa (UniProt Q5XUX0).
  • Expression hostE. coli
  • Properties

  • Purification notesPurity level >85%
This protein was expressed as an N-terminal His-tag fusion protein using Escherichia coli, and purified using Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatography. In some cases, smaller protein fragments may be present in addition to the intended expression product as a result of premature termination during translation in E. coli and subsequent co-purification via the His-tag. In some cases purified proteins run at a molecular weight different to the theoretically calculated molecular weight. This may be as a result of unequally distributed charges in the amino acid sequence. Alternatively, dimerisation of the expression product can occur under oxygen limitation during expression/cultivation.

  • FunctionComponent of some SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) protein ligase complex that plays a central role in G1 arrest following DNA damage. Specifically recognizes phosphorylated cyclin-D1 (CCND1), promoting its ubiquitination and degradation by the proteasome, resulting in G1 arrest. May act as a tumor suppressor.
  • Tissue specificityHighly expressed in brain. Expressed at moderate levels in most tissues, except bone marrow.
  • PathwayProtein modification; protein ubiquitination.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the FBXO31 family.
    Contains 1 F-box domain.
  • Developmental stageExpression is cell-cycle regulated, and peaks at late G2 to early G1 phase (at protein level).
