FuncS, SDS-PAGE
Application notes
(see key)
Recommended dilutions FuncS: Use at an assay dependent dilution. The ED50, determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF-receptors is < 0.5 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of > 2 x 106 units/mg.
SDS-PAGE: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Relevance
FGF-5 is a secreted heparin binding growth factor belonging to the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role in prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-5 binds to FGFR 1c and 2c, and plays a regulatory role in the hair growth cycle.

Purification notes
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per µg (1EU/µg).
Form
Lyophilised Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in 1x PBS, pH 7.2 to a concentration of 0.5–1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for future use. Repeated freeze thaw cycles will result in some loss of activity.
