  • Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab83999 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

    Application Notes
    SDS-PAGE
  • Application notesSDS-PAGE: Use at an assay dependent dilution.

Molecular Mass: ab83999 migrates as a broad band between 55 and 65 kDa in SDS-PAGE due to post-translation modifications, in particular glycosylation. This compares with the unmodified protein which has a predicted molecular mass of 47.1 kDa.

pI: ab83999 separates into a number of isoforms with a pI between 5.9 and 7.6 in 2D PAGE due to post-translational modifications, in particular glycosylation. This compares with the unmodified protein which has a predicted pI of 8.19.

Not yet tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

  • FunctionReceptor for acidic fibroblast growth factor. Does not bind to basic fibroblast growth factor. Binds FGF19.
  • Tissue specificityExpressed in gastrointestinal epithelial cells, pancreas, and gastric and pancreatic cancer cell lines.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Tyr protein kinase family. Fibroblast growth factor receptor subfamily.
    Contains 3 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains.
    Contains 1 protein kinase domain.
  • Post-translational
    modifications
    Glycosylated.
Phosphorylated on tyrosine residue (By similarity). Phosphorylation requires the presence of a functional (phosphorylated) FGFR1 and not necessarily by means of FGFR heterodimerization.
  • Cellular localizationMembrane. Isoform 2 may be secreted.

    • Densitometry of protein isoforms visualised by 2-DE.
The densitometry scan demonstrates the purified human cell expressed protein exists in multiple isoforms, which differ according to their level of post-translational modification.
The triangle indicates the theoretical MW and pI of the protein.
