Question 1

Tuesday 08-May-2012

Please recommend a Cy3-conjugated isotype control for ab49874.

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting us. I apologize for the delay in replying to your request for a Cy3-conjugated mouse IgG1 isotype control to complement the Cy3-conjugated GFAP antibody, ab49874. Unexpectedly, I was not able to find one, in our own catalogue or in the catalogues of other companies.

As an alternative to using a control that has no known reactivity with any protein, you could use an antibody directed against a protein that you are confident does not exist in your samples. Unfortunately, most of the antibodies that we offer directly conjugated to Cy3 are raised against ubiquitous proteins such as actin or tubulin. For example, anti-beta catenin antibody ab11348 is mouse IgG1 and is conjugated to Cy3, as is the GFAP antibody. However, if your samples do contain any beta catenin, this would not be useful as a negative control.

I am sorry I could not be of more help. If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact me.

Question 2

Thursday 26-April-2007

I wanted to know if this antibody has a reactivity with snail (in your website it says that it has a reactivity with SNAI, is that supposed to be SNAIL?) Besides, I wanted to know if the ab. can be sensitive to prolonged PFA. ( if yes, could you please define prolonged) Thanks in advance

ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry.

I sincerely apologize for the error found in the datasheet. I can confirm that the species reactivity is 'Snail' and the datasheet has been updated to show the changes. Thank you for pointing this out to us.

Regarding you question about prolonged fixation, please refer to the following publication.

Arber DA. Effect of prolonged formalin fixation on the immunohistochemical reactivity of breast markers. Appl Immunohistochem Mol Morphol. 2002 Jun;10(2):183-6.

I hope the information above will be useful to you. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
