  • Product overview

ab119595 Galectin 1 Mouse ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Mouse GALECTIN-1 specific-specific polyclonal antibodies were precoated onto 96-well plates. The mouse specific detection polyclonal antibodies were biotinylated. The test samples and biotinylated detection antibodies were added to the wells subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the mouse GALECTIN-1 amount of sample captured in plate.

No detectable cross-reactivity with any other cytokine.

Properties

  • FunctionMay regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase.
  • Tissue specificityExpressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. Within placenta, expressed in trophoblasts, stromal cells, villous endothelium, syncytiotrophoblast apical membrane and villous stroma. Within fetal membranes, expressed in amnion, chorioamniotic mesenchyma and chorion (at protein level). Expressed in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney and hematopoietic cells.
  • Sequence similaritiesContains 1 galectin domain.
  • Cellular localizationSecreted > extracellular space > extracellular matrix.
