    Question 1

    Friday 19-December-2008

Could you tell me the difference between ab7119 and ab6878 in immunoblotting examination? My target molecules are from ruminants including bovine. From your data sheet I should use ab7119 rather than ab6878 due to lower background. Please give me your suggestion.

    ANSWER:

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I can confirm that both recognize whole chicken IgY and IgG (H+L). However, ab7119 has been cross adsorbed to remove reactivity with bovine, goat, guinea pig, hamster, horse, human, mouse, rabbit, rat and sheep serum proteins. Meanwhile, ab6878 has not been cross adsorbed. Therefore, I would suggest using ab7119 instead as it will have less cross reactivity with bovine.

I hope this information helps. If there is anything else that I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Question 2

    Tuesday 01-August-2006

Hi, Thanks your reply. The biotin cinjygate is Cat no. ab6876. The IgYAb conjugate Ap is ab6878, ab7119 or ab6754. Our question is, have you done the test human serum sample from healthy and cancer patiants? Is there is no any false positive reaction?

    ANSWER:

    Thank you for your enquiry.

Only product ab7119 has been tested against human serum using IEP and it showed no reaction with human serum. This is also the only one of the four that has been preadsorbed against human proteins.

I hope this information helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.

    Question 3

    Tuesday 02-November-2004

Thanks for the info. I have not purchased the secondary antibody yet. The primary antibody was cat # 14297-50 lot # 77644. At the concentration you suggest to use for western blotting of a 1:2000 dilution it sure isn't a very good value. That would be $300 for me to do 4 western blots. The other company I bought a similar antibody from has given me 100 ug at the same concentration as you for $285. I think they have a better value for sure. I certainly cannot afford the price of this antibody. Luckily I am in the process of making my own. I hope it works. Sorry, I don't mean to be sounding nasty but I have used many antibodies over the years and none of them have been this expensive. Look at Santa Cruz as an example. All of their anitbodies are about the same price and they tend to expire before you use everything they have provided you for around $220.

Thank you for your time. I will probablly buy your secondary antibody as 1.85 mls should last me a very long time

    ANSWER:

Thanks for your email. On the phone you mentioned that you received 20 ul of antibody - I thought that you were talking about ab6878, but were you referring to ab14297?You should have received 50 ul in your vial of ab14297. Please let me know, if there wasn't 50 ul I will of course send you another vial free of charge.

I understand your concern about pricing. We feel that our price is not just for the antibody, but also includes excellent customer and technical service. We also guarantee that our products will work as stated on the online datasheets and if not we will provide a replacement or refund. So please do let us know how the antibody works out for you.

    Question 4

    Tuesday 02-November-2004

What is the concentration? What is the volume in a 1mg vial?

    ANSWER:

Thank you for your enquiry. The concentration of the most recent lot is 0.54 mg/ml so there should be 1.85 ml in the vial. Can you please give me the lot number that you received (it is located on the vial) and the Abcam order number or purchase order number that was used? Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
