EAF1 belongs to the EAF family. It acts as a transcriptional transactivator of ELL and ELL2 elongation activities. It is strongly expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, spleen, prostate, testis, small intestine and colon; poorly expressed in thymus.

Nucleus speckle. Nucleus, Cajal body. Note: Colocalizes with ELL to nuclear speckles. Also localized to Cajal (coiled) bodies.
