Question 1

Monday 19-September-2011

Is it possible to use both a biotin- and a mouse-specific secondary antibody on ab66793?

ANSWER:

Thank you for your inquiry.

You probably could use an anti-mouse secondary antibody with ab66793 since we know it worked well with a Cy3-conjugated secondary antibody. But, there are 7.5 biotin molecules per IgG1 molecule, and that could cause a lot of hindrance to block the binding of the secondary antibody.

We do have anti-biotin conjugated antibodies (if that's what you are looking for), such as Anti-Biotin (Alkaline Phosphatase) ab6652, Anti-Biotin (HRP) ab19221, and Anti-Biotin (FITC) ab6650.

What is probably best to do is to use a strepatvidin conjugate to bind the biotin on ab66793. We have two (peroxidase and AP).

Question 2

Thursday 27-August-2009

I have a question regarding ab66793. Does this antibody have cross-reactivity with Monkey, like Macaque?

ANSWER:

We could not find the sequence of Macaque monkey HB-EGF in databases. However, since the green monkey HB-EGF sequence has 97% identity to that of human, there is a good chance that ab66793 react with Macaque HB-EGF. Though the human HB-EGF has 80% identity with that of mouse and ab66793 did not react with mouse HB-EGF.
