Applications

Show applications key

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab8939 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

  • Double Immunodiffusion

  • RID

  • Immunoelectrophoresis

Application notes

RID: 5µL antiserum/cm2 in gel vs 5µL serum from neat - 1/10
Double diffusion: 10µL antiserum vs 2µL serum
IEP: 100µL antiserum vs 5µL serum

The use of 3% PEG 6000 with 1.2%agarose in a suitable buffer (such as TBE or Tris-barbital pH >8.2) is recommended.
Suitability for use in rocket IEP, immunohistochemical procedures, enzyme-linked immunosorbentassays and Western blot has not been assessed but use in such assays should not necessarily beexcluded.

Target

Function

Promotes endocytosis, possesses opsonic properties and influences the mineral phase of bone. Shows affinity for calcium and barium ions.

Tissue specificity

Synthesized in liver and selectively concentrated in bone matrix. Secreted in plasma. It is also found in dentin in much higher quantities than other plasma proteins.

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the fetuin family.
Contains 2 cystatin fetuin-A-type domains.

Post-translational
modifications

Phosphorylation sites are present in the extracelllular medium.

Cellular localization

Secreted.
