    Question 1

    Friday 25-May-2012

does antibody crossreact with chicken pox virus?

    ANSWER:

    Thank you for contacting us.

The lab says that the antibody has not been tested for crossreactivity with chicken pox virus (Varicella-Zoster virus, VZV).

I am still in touch with them to see if any theoretical prediction can be made based on sequence homology between HSV2 and VZV. I will let you know if I find out anything else that can be of help to you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Question 2

    Friday 06-January-2012

I'm looking for an antibody to use in sELISA with a monoclonal to the N-terminal. What is the immunogen/epitope?

    ANSWER:

Thank you for your inquiry. I heard back from the lab and unfortunately neither ab6506 nor ab33040 have been epitope mapped. We do not know if these antibodies will work in your sELISA since we do not know where the antibodies are binding. I am sorry that this information could not be more helpful. Please contact us with any other questions. Our scientist sent us the following reply to your inquiry. It is as follows: We do not have epitope information. In some cases, you can find a literature reference on the webpage that describes the antibody. This literature may have the epitope information. For pairing experiments, it may be most effective to just try it.

    Question 3

    Friday 13-May-2011

    1. Do you have specific protocol for ELISA with  ab33040?   2. The antibody is FITC conjugated. Is it possible to use secondary HRP antibody for WB in addition to the conjugation of FITC. If the answer is yes, what precautions should be considered?   3. The same question (no.2) is relevant for the secondary Ab for ELISA.

    ANSWER:

    1. We do not have a specific ELISA protocol for this antibody. The testing was done by the originator of the clone and the protocols were not passed on to us. It is likely that the ELISA was carried out against the purifiedHSV2 gB antigen. 2/3. Do not know what precautions to take as have never done such testing. I doubt that there would be a interference but cannot guarantee this.
