The source of these antibodies returned my email today and stated that in all likelihood antibodies ab401 and ab402 to human Hemoglobin do not recognize fetal Hb. They have not tested them in their laboratory, but some researchers have results indicating that they do not. Regarding both ab401 and ab402, the epitope has not been identified, but is thought to be in the beta chain. To our knowledge, these antibodies have yet to be tested in Western blotting. All tested applications are specified on Abcam product datasheets.
