Recommended dilutions
WB: Use at a concentration of 1-5 µg/ml.
IHC-P: Use at a concentration of 3 µg/ml.
This antibody has only been tested in WB against the recombinant fragment used as immunogen and may not recognize Hepcidin 25 but pro-hepcidin. We have no data on the detection of endogenous protein.
Not yet tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Relevance
|
Hepcidin is the principal iron-regulatory hormone. It acts by binding to the iron exporter ferroportin, inducing its internalization and degradation, thereby blocking cellular iron efflux. The bioactive 25 amino acid (aa) peptide has a hairpin structure stabilized by 4 disulfide bonds. Pathogenic mutations in hepatic iron transporters and regulators lead to hereditary iron overload diseases, including hemochromatosis. The highest expression of hepcidin is found in the liver and is secreted into the urine.
