Relevance
|
JAML (junctional adhesion molecule-like) mediates adhesive interactions with CXADR, a protein of the junctional complex of epithelial cells, via the Ig-like V-type domain. It also enhances myeloid leukemia cell adhesion to endothelial cells. It is expressed at the plasma membrane of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and expression is restricted to the hematopoietic tissues with the exception of liver. It is also expressed in fetal liver, spleen and thymus. JAML is up-regulated upon retinoic acid, Me2SO and PMA treatment in differentiating myeloid leukemia cells. The gene name for JAML is AMICA (adhesion molecule that interacts with CXADR antigen 1).
