Exactly what size band is detected with this antibody? The datasheet states 88 kDa, but according to SwissProt, the predicted MW of human PCAF is approx 93 kDa.

The customer is seeing a band at approx 98 kDa.

Thank you for your enquiry. I checked with our source for this product and the 88 kDa that was listed is wrong. The predicted MW of human PCAF is indeed approx 93 kDa. I have updated our online datasheet to reflect this.

The band at 98 kDa that you are seeing should be PCAF. The protein is likely to be subject to post-translational modifications (such as glycosylations) that would increase the molecular weight.

I would be interested in purchasing an anti-PCAF antibody and I was wondering whether the ab12188 antibody is specific to PCAF or could cross-react with the related protein GCN5. Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you for your enquiry. PCAF shows extensive sequence similarity to human and mouse GCN5. Ab12188 has not been tested to see if it reacts with GCN5, but it seems that there is a strong possibility that it will react with GCN5 in addition to PCAF.
