Protein descriptionRecombinant fragment, corresponding to amino acids 87-235 of Human MCSF with an additional N terminal Arginine with His tag produced in the endosperm tissue of barley grain (Hordeum vulgare); 149 amino acids (165aa with tag), 21 kDa. UniProt P09603.
Expression hostBarley
Properties
Purity> 95
% by SDS-PAGE
Purification notesSterile filtered through a 0.2 µm filter.
Biological activityBioactivity:
Bioactivity is assayed by measuring the dose dependent effect of Human MCSF on proliferation of M-NFS-60 cells. The ED50 for this batch is 5.16 ng/ml, according to this bioassay. Activity range is 4.13-6.19 ng/ml.
FormLyophilised:It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile phosphate-buffered saline to a concentration of no less than 100 µg/ml. For long term storage of the reconstituted solution it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Storage instructionsShipped at 4°C. Upon delivery aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles. This product is an active protein and may elicit a biological response in vivo, handle with caution.
Storage bufferPreservative: None
Constituents: 5mM Tris HCl, 80 mM Arginine, pH 8.0

Additional notesEndotoxin:
Endotoxin level is less than 0.005ng per µg (0.05EU/µg) as measured by turbidimetric kinetic assay.
MAT assay:
ab89683 carries no pyrogenic or pro-inflammatory contaminants, as assayed with monocyte activation test using Human 10-plex Cytokine Assay measuring IL6, TNF-alpha and IL1beta induction.

FunctionGranulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factors are cytokines that act in hematopoiesis by controlling the production, differentiation, and function of 2 related white cell populations of the blood, the granulocytes and the monocytes-macrophages. CSF-1 induces cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage. It plays a role in immunological defenses, bone metabolism, lipoproteins clearance, fertility and pregnancy.
Post-translational
modificationsGlycosylation and proteolytic cleavage yield different soluble forms. A high molecular weight soluble form is a proteoglycan containing chondroitin sulfate.
Isoform 1 is N- and O-glycosylated. Isoform 3 is N-glycosylated.
Cellular localizationCell membrane and Secreted > extracellular space.
