Relevance

MELK, maternal embryonic leucine zipper kinase, belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. It contains 1 protein kinase domain and is expressed in placenta, kidney, thymus, testis, ovary and intestine.
MELK phosphorylates ZNF622 and may contribute to its redirection to the nucleus. It may also be involved in the inhibition of spliceosome assembly during mitosis.
