Question 1

Friday 27-April-2012

Did not see a band in WB with this protein. Antibody works with a mouse recombinant protein though.

ANSWER:

Thank you for your call today and for letting us know about the trouble with this protein.

I had requested that a replacement vial be sent to you, but your colleague kindly called to let us know that we have previously credited your account for the original purchase so I am unable to send a replacement for ab39304. If you would like to try a vial from a new lot, you may purchase itthrough your original means, and if it also does not work in Western blot or zymography we would of course be happy to credit you for it.

I apologize for my error on the phone earlier, but please let me know if you have any quesitons or if there is anything else that we can do for you. Have a good weekend.

Question 4

Thursday 08-December-2011

I have already purchased and worked-up ab37150 in FFPE mouse kidney and noticed you do not have an abreview for FFPE mouse tissue. Can I get a test code and then submit the abreview with a picture?

ANSWER:

As ab37150 is already guaranteed to work in IHC-P (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) on mouse tissue, it is technically not eligible for a testing discount. There are also a few references associated with the antibody that say they have used the antibody in IHC-P on mouse tissue. I am checking on these references as I cannot find the IHC images in the references which use MMP2. If it turns out that these references are incorrect then I could issue you an Image testing discount, but I need to contact a few people first about the references. I will contact you if it turns out that you can receive a testing discount. Also for future reference, we normally issue these testing discount codes, before the antibody is purchased, but in this situation I can make an exception, if the references turn out to be incorrect.

Question 5

Wednesday 23-November-2011

A customer has the following enquiry regarding these two antibodies; Do you know what sort of positive controls is suitable for the MMP-2 and MMP-9 antibodies? I don’t have the positive controls listed in the data sheets but I do have access to rat organs, is there any specific (e.g. brain, liver, spleen, heart, lung etc.) I could try to see if it works in a western blot and IHC-P? Do you have any suggestions for the customer? Hope to hear from you soon, Kind Regards,

ANSWER:

Thank you for contacting us.

For positive control either whole protein can be used or the cell lysates cane used. The species of positive control will depend on the species cross reactivity of primary antibodies. We have following MMP2 proteins in catalogue

MMP-2 (Human) ab40964; ab39302; ab81550 (Rat) ab39304

MMP-9 (Human) ab39308, ab82955, ab82957 (ready to use in WB), ab82907 or ab82938,

please use the following website to select tissue sections that express MMP2 prtoein. Sections of these will be a good positive control
