  • Specificityab38915 recognises the Carboxyterminal end of MMP3 (Stromelysin 1) and Stromelysin 2, but does not cross react with Stromelysin 3, nor to the other MMP family members (MMP1, MMP2, MMP9, etc). ab38915 does not recognize the 21 Kd active form.

  • Application notesWB: 1/1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT - 1/5000, when using chemiluminescent substrates. Predicted molecular weight: 54 kDa. But note that when used against the reduced protein, ab38915 identifies bands at 59 Kd and 57 Kd (the pro-form), as well as active forms. The antibody does not recognize the 21 Kd active form. In addition Stromelysin levels in quiescent cells and tissues are minimal, and stimulation or protein concentration is often needed to visualize the bands. Dilution optimised using Chromogenic detection. Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

    • DomainThe conserved cysteine present in the cysteine-switch motif binds the catalytic zinc ion, thus inhibiting the enzyme. The dissociation of the cysteine from the zinc ion upon the activation-peptide release activates the enzyme.
