EIA-Ctrl: Use at an assay dependent dilution.
WB: Use at an assay dependent dilution. The zymogen runs as 59 and 57 kDa bands, representing the glycosylated and non-glycosylated forms. Active enzyme runs at 45 kDa, and breaks down stepwise to a 28 kDa form. The enzyme is supplied as a mixture of the zymogen and active enzyme.
SDS-PAGE: Use at an assay dependent dilution.

This peptide can be used with studies using ab38912.

Function
Can degrade fibronectin, laminin, gelatins of type I, III, IV, and V; collagens III, IV, X, and IX, and cartilage proteoglycans. Activates procollagenase.
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the peptidase M10A family.
Contains 4 hemopexin-like domains.
Domain
The conserved cysteine present in the cysteine-switch motif binds the catalytic zinc ion, thus inhibiting the enzyme. The dissociation of the cysteine from the zinc ion upon the activation-peptide release activates the enzyme.
