We acquired this MMP8 antibody -carboxyterminal from you to react it with MMP8 carboxyterminal (ab41065). Before to do this we would like to fix the antibody via covalent binding (with its amine group) to a surface, but it is not working. May we have details on the modifications made on the ab38990 compared to the normal antibody? Have you inactivated the amine part of this antibody? Could you furnish us, please a comparison between the structures of the modified (ab38990) antibody-carboxyterminal and the normal MMP8 antibody (ab78423)? Thanks for your help. |

ANSWER: |
Thank you for your enquiry. I think there is a misunderstanding. The antibody has carboxyterminal end in its title, because it binds to the carboxyterminal end of the target protein. There are no modifications to the antibody itself. This would also be true for any amino groups or the amino end of the antibody. They are not modified. Please bear in mind that if you are trying to covalently bind the antibody to a surface with its free amino groups (parts of the amino acids asparagine, arginine, glutamine, etc), this might render the antibody inactive. I hope this information helps. If there is anything else that we can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
