Overview

  • Product nameMTA1 protein (Tagged-His Tag)See all MTA1 proteins and peptides ...
  • Protein descriptionRecombinant fragment, corresponding to amino acids 105-452 of Human MTA1 with N terminal His tag; 348 amino acids, 40kDa (39.6kDa predicted from sequence). UniProt ID = Q13330.
  • Expression hostE. coli
  • Properties

  • Purification notesPurity level >85%
This protein was expressed as an N-terminal His-tag fusion protein using Escherichia coli, and purified using Immobilized Metal Ion Affinity Chromatography. In some cases, smaller protein fragments may be present in addition to the intended expression product as a result of premature termination during translation in E. coli and subsequent co-purification via the His-tag. In some cases purified proteins run at a molecular weight different to the theoretically calculated molecular weight. This may be as a result of unequally distributed charges in the amino acid sequence. Alternatively, dimerisation of the expression product can occur under oxygen limitation during expression/cultivation.

  • FunctionMay be involved in the regulation of gene expression by covalent modification of histone proteins. Isoform Long is a corepressor of estrogen receptor (ER). Isoform Short binds to ER and sequesters it in the cytoplasm and enhances non-genomic responses of ER.
  • Tissue specificityWidely expressed. High expression in brain, ovaries, adrenal glands and virgin mammary glands. Higher in tumors than in adjacent normal tissue from the same individual.
  • Sequence similaritiesContains 1 BAH domain.
    Contains 1 ELM2 domain.
    Contains 1 GATA-type zinc finger.
    Contains 1 SANT domain.
  • Developmental stageHighly expressed in metastatic cells.
  • DomainIsoform Short contains a Leu-Arg-Ile-Leu-Leu motif (ER binding motif).
  • Cellular localizationCytoplasm and Nucleus.
