ICC/IF: Use at an assay dependent dilution (PMID 18694567).
WB: Use at a concentration of 2 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 49 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 49 kDa).

Maelstrom (mMael) is a potential regulator of RNA processing or subcellular location, thought to be important in germ cell development. The maelstrom gene was identified in and has been most studied in Drosophila melanogaster. Vertebrate homologs have been identified and characterized. The protein contains a HMG box DNA-binding domain.
