Product name
Mecamylamine hydrochloride, non-competitive antagonist of nicotinic receptors -
Description
Non-competitive antagonist of nicotinic receptors -
Biological description
Non-competitive, non-selective antagonist of nicotinic actelycholine receptors (nAChRs). Blood-brain barrier permeable. Blocks various different nAChR types, (IC50 values are 640 nM, 2.5 µM, 3.6 µM and 6.9 µM at α3β4, α4β2, α3β2 and α7 receptors, respectively). Blocks most physiological, behavioural and reinforcing effects of nicotine. Displays antidepressant-like effects in mice.
