Cross reactivity

Reacts with

Mouse, Rat, Human

Immunogen

Synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human MyoD1 around the phosphorylation site of serine 200 (A-S-SP-P-R).

Positive control

Extracts from HeLa cells treated with vanadate (1mg/ml, 30min).

Immunogen affinity purified

Purification notes

ab75909 was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. The antibody against non-phosphopeptide was removed by chromatography using non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the phosphorylation site.

Applications

Show applications key

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab75909 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Target

Function

Involved in muscle differentiation (myogenic factor). Induces fibroblasts to differentiate into myoblasts. Activates muscle-specific promoters. Interacts with and is inhibited by the twist protein. This interaction probably involves the basic domains of both proteins.

Sequence similarities

Contains 1 basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) domain.

Post-translational
modifications

Acetylated by a complex containing EP300 and PCAF. The acetylation is essential to activate target genes. Conversely, its deacetylation by SIRT1 inhibits its function.
Ubiquitinated on the N-terminus; which is required for proteasomal degradation.

Cellular localization

Nucleus.
