|
Negative elongation factor E NELFe (also know as RD protein) is one of the five polypeptides that comprise the NELF complex. This complex is involved in the negative regulation of RNA polymerase II transcriptional elongation. It interacts with the DSIF complex to repress transcription. Its activity is reversed by positive transcription elongation factor B (PTEF-B), which is involved in phosphorylation of RNA pol II C-terminal domain.
