Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAFAH) inactivates platelet-activating factor (PAF) by removing the acetyl group at the sn-2 position. Isoform 1B of PAFAH consists of 3 subunits: alpha (PAFAH1B1) beta (PAFAH1B2), and gamma (PAFAH1B3). The alpha subunit has regulatory activity and the beta and gamma subunits have catalytic activity. PAFAH1B3 plays an important role during the development of brain.
